American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 18 months of ED experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Work in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
-
Serves patients of all age groups, treating more than 60,000 patients per year
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients

Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-
36 or 48 hours per week available
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday coverage required

Floating to other units and hospital locations required

EMR: Meditech (experience not required)

Active RN license in the State of Alabama or a Compact state — no temporary or pending licenses accepted

No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed

Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or higher required
-
Minimum 18 months of experience, with at least 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience required (2 years preferred)

Certifications required: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

SECURE certification required (completed on-site)

NURSYS verification required

Current driver's license required for consideration

Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

ED team is composed of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff in a 24/7 staffed environment

All ED RNs are required to complete both an online pre-test and an on-site cardiac/skills exam

Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required

Solid navy scrubs required

Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
