Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using advanced dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments through chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Follow infection prevention protocols by implementing aseptic techniques, sterilizing dental equipment, and managing healthcare infection control measures.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and providing care tailored to children’s needs.
- Skilled in taking high-quality dental x-rays (dental imaging), interpreting results, and ensuring radiation safety standards.
- Excellent client communication skills to effectively educate patients about dental care and foster trust.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards within a dental setting.
