Part-Time Sushi Roll Chef / Night Shift Sushi Roll Chef
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Part-Time Sushi Roll Chef to join our kitchen team. This position is focused specifically on preparing and assembling sushi rolls. The candidate must be able to make sushi rolls efficiently, cleanly, and consistently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
This role does not require experience with nigiri sushi, nor gunkan sushi. We are mainly looking for someone who is confident and skilled with sushi roll preparation.
Available Shifts
We are currently hiring for the following available shifts:
Tuesday: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Monday to Sunday: 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Applicants do not necessarily need to be available for every shift, but evening and late-night availability is strongly preferred.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls accurately, efficiently, and consistently
- Make a variety of basic and specialty sushi rolls according to restaurant standards
- Prepare ingredients such as sushi rice, vegetables, seafood, sauces, and toppings
- Maintain clean and organized sushi station during service
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and raw seafood handling procedures
- Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored, labeled, and rotated
- Work with kitchen and front-of-house team members to complete orders quickly and correctly
- Clean and reset the sushi station before, during, and after each shift
- Follow restaurant recipes, portioning standards, and presentation guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous experience making sushi rolls is required
- Must be able to roll sushi quickly, neatly, and consistently
- Knife skills and basic prep skills are required
- Experience handling sushi rice, nori, raw fish, seafood, and other sushi ingredients
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to work during busy service hours in a fast-paced kitchen
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Night shift availability is preferred
- Experience with nigiri, sashimi, or gunkan sushi is a plus, but not required
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who already has hands-on experience making sushi rolls and can step into the position with minimal training. We are looking for someone dependable, clean, fast, and consistent.
