American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring moderate sedation management and Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital experience.
-
Work in the Endoscopy department of an academic Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
-
Day/evening shift schedule with rotating start times between 6:30am and 10:30am, 8-hour shifts
-
May be required to stay past scheduled end time to complete the day's procedure schedule
-
Weeknight call requirement

Floating required as needed

Utilizes an RN-driven sedation assessment approach based on the Ramsay Sedation Scale
-
Performs pre/post care for all levels of sedation including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery
-
Recovers patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy, some under general anesthesia
-
Epic EMR used
-
Active WI or compact RN license required
-
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
CGRN certification preferred

Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty within the last 3 years required

Epic EMR experience required, within the past 12 months preferred

Academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital experience required

Teaching hospital experience required

Must be able to perform and manage moderate sedation
-
Skilled in airway management and recovery of conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation
-
Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher overall passing score
-
Previous travel experience required

Administer and monitor conscious sedation, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, and recover patients from sedation
-
Perform specimen handling and labeling, IV starts, 12-lead EKG/ECG, and medication administration including opioid analgesics, Propofol, reversal agents, and Versed
-
Work with specialized equipment including bronchoscopy carts, ERBE electrosurgical units, balloon dilators, polyp snares, lithotripters, and foreign body equipment
-
Assist with procedures such as ERCP, EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, and esophageal variceal banding/sclerotherapy

Work setting includes inpatient, outpatient endoscopy, and portable/bedside travel cases
-
Pediatric endoscopy experience preferred

Must reside 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
