The individual of this position will answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public. Obtain specific information from calls to ensure effective response. Code and enter information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Follow RsMO 576.050 regarding Misuse of Official Information. This position works in a fast-paced, stressful environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to multitask, maintain focus and remain calm under emergency conditions despite many interruptions. The position will require working 12-hour shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Duties:
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance
- Gather accurate and detailed information from callers
- Dispatch appropriate personnel and resources to incidents
- Maintain communication with field units to provide updates and support
- Operate and monitor various communication systems, including phone systems and GPS
- Transcribe and document information accurately
- Perform data entry tasks to update records and logs
Qualifications:
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ability to negotiate and handle stressful situations calmly and effectively
- Knowledge of first aid procedures is preferred
- Familiarity with law enforcement protocols and terminology is a plus
- Proficient in data entry and computer skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
