Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histology Lab Aid to support our histological and pathology laboratory team. Schedule for this position is Monday - Friday , 4:00AM - 12:30 PM. The ideal candidate should be detail oriented, show strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and play a crucial role in supporting laboratory operations.
Duties
- Operating slide ovens, automated slide stainer and coverslippers, and changing reagents.
- Scanning slides, assigning slides to pathologists based on various requirements.
- Filing slides and blocks.
- Labeling mycology samples and recording dates of inoculation.
- Maintaining daily quality control logs for various areas of the laboratory.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures under the supervision of senior staff and management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment to adhere to safety and CLIA standards.
- Stay updated on laboratory protocols and training, with yearly review of standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Support laboratory staff by maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Work in an environment with biological hazards and PPE controls.
- Operate laboratory information systems (LIS).
Experience
- Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory setting is highly desirable, but not required.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and terminology.
- Understanding of CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations governing laboratory practices.
- Proven ability to follow detailed standard operating procedures within a laboratory environment.
- Competence in utilizing Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry and sample tracking.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
