Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in operating various types of heavy equipment, including reach trucks, clamp trucks, and Hi-Lo forklifts, while adhering strictly to safety standards and warehouse protocols. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a range of heavy equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks to load and unload goods.
- Manage order picking processes accurately using warehouse management systems and manual methods.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities by preparing shipments and verifying incoming deliveries.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues.
- Support warehouse distribution tasks by organizing materials for storage or dispatch.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal safety protocols during all handling activities.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage solutions and improve workflow efficiency.
- Perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining proper ergonomic practices.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements within the warehouse management system.
- Participate in regular safety training sessions to uphold high safety standards in production environments.
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, Hi-Lo, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks in a warehouse setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems and order picking procedures.
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes and materials handling techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards relevant to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting safely.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy.
- Prior experience in warehouse supervision or distribution roles is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety compliance.
