Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**
The fundamental reason this classification exists is to provide support to the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment through zoning and development plan application review. Work responsibilities include: processing applications for the Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment review; performing technical zoning duties; and communicating with the developers and citizens and performing other duties as needed. Employees report directly to the Land Use Control Administrator or the Assistant Land Use Control Administrator.
Bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, public administration, business administration or a closely related field, and two (2) years of experience working with city zoning and/or city-wide property development.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Ability to attain certification as a Certified Alabama Planning and Zoning official (CAPZO) within one (1) year of employment.
