Responsibilities
As a Briefing Attorney, you will serve as a strategic legal resource for the firm's litigation teams by:
- Becoming fully familiar with assigned cases through review of intake materials, client documents, pleadings, answers, and case files
- Reviewing and applying local rules, standing orders, and individual judge procedures to ensure compliance and maximize litigation effectiveness
- Conducting in-depth legal research involving federal and state wage and hour laws, procedural issues, arbitration, class certification, and related employment law topics
- Drafting persuasive motions, responses, replies, legal memoranda, briefs, and other substantive filings
- Assisting litigators in developing case strategy throughout all phases of litigation
- Preparing legal analyses and position statements addressing complex litigation issues and emerging legal developments
- Consulting with litigation teams regarding affirmative defenses, motions to strike, dispositive motions, and other strategic briefing issues
- Providing legal support for mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
- Monitoring developments in wage and hour and employment law to identify changes affecting pending litigation
- Collaborating closely with partners, litigation associates, and paralegals to ensure consistent, high-quality advocacy
Qualifications
We're looking for attorneys who possess:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- 3+ years of litigation, appellate, judicial clerkship, or employment law experience preferred
- Exceptional legal research and persuasive writing skills
- Experience drafting substantive motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to synthesize complex legal issues into practical litigation strategies
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation practice
- Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
Experience in wage and hour or employment law is preferred but not required. Attorneys with significant litigation or appellate briefing experience are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $125,000–$200,000, depending on experience
