Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sushi Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will assist with the preparation and presentation of sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and quality are maintained at all times. Duties
- Assist with food preparation including slicing fish, vegetables, and other ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Support the kitchen team in assembling sushi rolls according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment in compliance with food safety management practices
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including rice cookers, knives, and refrigeration units
- Follow all safety standards during food production to ensure a safe working environment for everyone
- Help with meal preparation for catering events or special menu offerings as needed
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy service times
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is required.
- Experience in food handling, food service, or restaurant environments is highly valued
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures is important
- Basic culinary experience with an emphasis on sushi or Japanese cuisine is a plus
- Strong knife skills and slicing techniques are desirable for precise ingredient preparation
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to menu specifications
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and team members
