TEAM: WORKERS COMPENSATION OPERATIONS

JOB OVERVIEW:
At NCCI, we’re the source you trust for workers compensation information. Our mission is to foster a healthy workers compensation system through the use of data, industry trends, and providing objective rate and loss cost recommendations. To help us reach our mission, we’re looking for a Test Auditor to join our inspections team in the Western U.S.
In this role, you’ll conduct test audit services to determine the accuracy of insurers’ classification of risk and calculated workers’ compensation premium and carrier premium audit results. You’ll have a key role in helping ensure regulatory requirements are met to check the accuracy and reliability of each insurer’s audits and to improve proficiency in auditing practices.
This position is a hybrid, home based role located within the United States. The selected individual will be responsible for completing audits in NCCI states surrounding their home based location, with assigned territory aligned to support efficient regional coverage. Day and overnight travel up to 30% will be required. Use of a personal vehicle will be required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Review and prioritize test audit assignments and schedules, physical and virtual audits, and inspection with the insured
- Conduct pre-audit research to determine scope of the audit, review and analyze records and documents provided by the carrier
- Coordinate with the insured and any additional external contacts necessary to facilitate the audit
- Issue appointment letters and update all relevant information as it relates to preparation of the audit/inspection
- Travel to insured locations, as needed, to conduct on-site audits and inspections
- Conduct audits and inspections of insureds’ operations and business records
- Prepare formal written test audit reports analyzing the insured's operations and classification, payroll and other business records, and premium calculation results against the insurer’s premium audit results to identify discrepancies or errors
- Respond to questions or disputes regarding the test audit result
WHAT IT TAKES:
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 6 years of related work experience
- 3+ years of related workers compensation insurance experience
- Experience conducting field premium audits, classification inspections, audit reviews, underwriting, or other relevant field tasks
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance, Basic Manual, Scopes Manual, and Classification system
- Strong analytical, interpretive, and decision-making skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Time management and project management skills with the ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to provide fact-witness testimony at administrative and judicial hearings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, tools, spreadsheets, and content management systems
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check satisfactory to NCCI
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Professional insurance designation is preferred in Associate in Premium Audit (APA); WCP; or CPCU
