JOB **THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION ONLY. $10 STIPENED PER COUNTY GUIDELINES ** EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • Respond to emergency calls including fires and fire alarms, emergency medical calls, hazardous conditions, and other emergency situations. • Performs non-certified firefighting support duties, to include, driving and/or operating fire apparatus, operating radio equipment, operating and maintaining firefighting tools, opening and closing fire hydrants and/or mapping fire hydrants, directing traffic away from hazardous or sensitive areas/protection of fire hose, warm-zone rescue activities, emergency medical care, and stabilizing hazardous situations for firefighters and bystanders, additional details below: • Implements actions necessary to save lives and property. • Assist in maintaining scene safety for all personnel and bystanders. • Drives/operates fire department apparatus to emergency scenes or other assignments. • Operates and maintains firefighting equipment and tools. • Assists in the maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment. • Attends ongoing training classes and drills; maintains required certifications. • Assists with control of scene and non-injured parties. • Completes required reports and paperwork for incidents. • Performs fire prevention duties as assigned. • Maintains adequate inventory; restocks as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Physical Requirements & Abilities • Must meet medical and physical agility standards as established. • Requires exertion upwards of 200 pounds of force occasionally, 100 pounds of force frequently, and 50 pounds of force constantly in the performance of warm-zone fire suppression duties, evacuation and care of injured persons, and the use of emergency and related fire equipment. • Must be able to traverse irregular, uneven, and/or erratically moving surfaces frequently. • Requires the ability to position self in confined areas, for work overhead and to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, poles, ramps, and the like. • Must always maintain composure in response to emergency situations. • This position requires exposure to situations typical of warm zone fire suppression duties. Requires exposure to outside atmospheric conditions. • Must be able to move about on hands, knees, and feet. The ability to grasp, pull, pinch, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands is required. • May require ability to read gauges and use computational math in certain situations. • Ability to communicate and interpret information through two-way radio.
