Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction on topics such as traffic laws, FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and safe driving practices
- Conduct practical behind-the-wheel training for tractor-trailers, including manual transmission and air brake systems, ensuring students develop proficient driving skills
- Assess student progress through evaluations, feedback sessions, and skill demonstrations aligned with industry standards
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Stay current with industry updates related to commercial driving, tanker operations, bus driving, and other specialized vehicle categories
- Enforce safety protocols during training exercises to promote a culture of safety and responsibility among students
- Collaborate with administrative staff to schedule training sessions and coordinate testing procedures
Skills
- Extensive experience in commercial truck driving, including tractor-trailer operations and bus driving
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and safety standards for commercial vehicles
- Proven ability in commercial driving instruction with classroom teaching experience
- Familiarity with manual transmission systems and air brake technology
- Ability to effectively teach adult learners in both classroom settings and practical environments
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey complex concepts and foster student engagement
- Certifications or experience related to tanker operations or specialized vehicle categories are a plus
