General Definition of Work:
Performs human support work transporting senior passengers and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the assigned personnel.
Starting at $15.04/hr
Essential Functions:
- Drives vehicle transporting elderly passengers from residence to various community facilities as scheduled; may drive vehicle for field trips and recreational activities.
- Operates wheelchair lift mechanism. Assists passengers in and out of vehicle and with personal effects such as coats, hats, mobility aides, etc. Assists passengers to door at destination.
- Maintains records of gasoline used, mileage, passenger usage, etc.; prepares reports as required.
- Performs routine vehicle maintenance checks and daily/weekly safety checks. Takes vehicle for fuel fill-ups and necessary oil changes, repairs, maintenance, etc. Cleans vehicle for safety and comfort of passengers and oversees the general well-being of elderly clients who use the service.
- Transports mail and equipment and supplies from one location to another.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimal (less than one year) experience driving a bus, van or other commercial vehicle.
Special Requirements:
Possess Chauffeur’s license with State of Michigan upon hire.
Obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications within 6 months of hire.
Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.
