McMinnville Montessori School is seeking a full time assistant for the elementary-aged classroom for the 2026-27 school year. Work with 2 lead teachers to guide and support 25-30 children from the age of 6-13 in a small school focused on building independence, kindness, and practical skills for a balanced life, along with all the usual academic work.
A normal day includes roaming the classroom during the work cycle, helping keep the tone of focused work while the teachers give lessons to small groups, stopping briefly to help children decide what to practice or gather the supplies they need. You would help supervise recess and lunch time, practice early literacy skills with the younger children, support children in problem solving when conflicts arise, and take written observations for the teacher. Assistants often take small groups of children on a walk to the library, to a nearby park for nature studies, or on a trip to a local museum or art gallery. End of the day cleaning tasks include vacuuming, starting laundry, and cleaning the bathrooms, along with restocking supplies on the shelf for the coming day.
Preferred but not required:
1-2 years work experience in an Elementary Montessori environment, a primary or elementary Montessori certificate from a MACTE accredited program.
Required:
Valid First Aid and CPR Certifications, Food Handlers and current enrollment in the Criminal History Background Check - or the ability to get that promptly.
Compensation:
You will be paid the gross amount of $19.50 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Additionally you will receive the following benefits:
- Health Stipend of $150 per month
- Up to $500 of approved Professional Development related expenses reimbursed to you or paid directly by the school;
- 50% tuition discount for your children enrolled in the school;
- 18 paid holidays
- 1 additional "floating" paid holiday
- up to five (5) paid days if the school is closed for weather, other "Act of God."
- Five paid days to be used for Oregon sick time or personal leave purposes, in accordance with the Employee Handbook and Oregon Law
- Five additional paid days off for health purposes.
