PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Physician is responsible for the delivery of patient care services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of medical care to individual patients in a variety of setting including clinic, hospital and nursing facilities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Provide direct physician services to patients including examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and coordination, and evaluation of progress. Review and follow up on all reports of ancillary services provided to patients.
Provide outpatient, inpatient and extended care services to patients.
Arrange for appropriate coverage of patients when unavailable.
Use SOAP formatting for recording patient contacts and maintain problem-oriented clinical records. Keep records that are adequately detailed, truthful, clear and accurate to allow good continuity of patient care and accurate billing (coding of diagnoses, services provided, and charges). The physician’s clinical notations should facilitate another provider’s assuming follow-up care. Assure a summary of services given, generally referred to as “health maintenance”, is kept up-to-date in individual patient records.
Notations should be completed on the day that services are provided.
Dictated notes should be read, corrected and signed or initialed by the provider in accordance with clinic protocols.
Provide billing information relative to all billable services, i.e., completed encounter forms and hospital charge sheets.
Demonstrate appropriate work habits which include:
Arriving on time for clinical sessions and/or meetings – unless detained by an emergency.
Communicates appropriately with patients and other providers and returns patient/provider phone calls as promptly as possible.
Utilizing appropriate infection control measures.
Maintaining appropriate patient confidentiality.
Share call coverage with physician group for after-hours access.
Cooperate in promoting the team concept of health care delivery. Available for phone consultation for Health Help’s mid-level and ancillary staff as needed.
Maintain Kentucky and specialty specific requirements of approved continuing medical education and secures Chief Medical Officer's approval of CE reimbursed per organizational benefit parameters.
Collaborate with Chief Medical Officer and other provider staff members in the development and periodic updating of standards of care, principles of practice, standing orders and/or clinical protocols (including those governing mid-level providers).
As requested, participate with professional and allied health training programs in student and resident rotations.
Assist in recruitment and orientation of new staff.
Assist in organizational planning as requested. Maintain familiarity with the organization's mission, goals, and objectives and work with the Chief Medical Officer and staff to assure these are met.
Help assure clinic productivity, efficiency, and financial objectives are met.
As assigned, attend meetings or makes presentations to community groups, associations or other health organizations as an ambassador of the organization.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Chief Medical Officer, and ultimately the Chief Executive Officer.
SUPERVISION
No direct supervisory responsibilities. Physician may elect to serve as preceptor to a medical or advanced practice nursing student per organizational guidelines. Employee carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include instructing students; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a medical office environment and involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Frequently exposed to blood, toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Position may include possible exposure to aggressive or violent patients, and requires the ability to work under stressful conditions, often for long periods of time.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Regular travel is not a requirement for this position.
WORK HOURS
40+ hours per week. A position exempt from wage and hour laws, job may require work weeks in excess of forty hours and/or irregular schedule from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Board Certified/Board Eligible M.D.; D.O.
Minimum Experience: No experience required. Candidates with prior healthcare experience in a community health setting preferred.
Required License: An unrestricted Medical License issued by the Kentucky Board of Medicine. American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification.
Qualifications
Successful applicants will be knowledgeable in practices and regulations related to the provision of patient care, the use of medical equipment and instrumentation, and common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment. Employee must possess skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medical practice to provide ongoing patient care, taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings. Candidate must have the ability to maintain quality control standards, ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, ability to interpret, adapt and apply clinical guidelines and procedures, and the ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
