Our Assistant Teachers are individuals that have a passion for, and experience in, early childhood education. They are team players helping to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans according to the NAYEC standards. They also possess strong communication skills and can motivate and inspire children in a positive manner.
Job Requirements: Assistant teachers will need a minimum of 1 years’ experience in early childhood education. Additional trainings will be required and provided by The Goddard School.

Responsibilities of a Assistant Teacher include:
- Responsible for, and ensure the safety of, children in your care (ages 6 weeks to 6 years).
- Help to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans according to NAYEC standards.
- Provide individualized instruction for students by promoting learning through play.
- Partner and effectively communicate with families to ensure “best-in-class” care for their children.
- Team player that will collaborate well with Head Teachers and other school faculty.
- Maintain a safe, warm, clean, and organized classroom that promotes learning and play.
- Continue to develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential reflective of the required age group supported, or an equivalent education with a minimum of 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education.
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience in the early childhood education field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, creative, energetic, and committed to the families, children and center philosophies and values.
- Possess or willing to obtain required trainings, including but not limited to First Aid Certification, CPR & medication administration.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. Infant and Young Toddler Teachers must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.
- Must be able to bend, sit on the floors, and assume low level positions to engage in physical and visual contact with children.
- Must see and hear well enough to keep children safe.
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their families.
