Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Nursery Manager to work directly under the Nursery Manager and assist in all facets of greenhouse and nursery operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining plant health, organizing greenhouse operations, coordinating daily work activities, and ensuring efficient use of growing space.
The ideal candidate has strong horticultural knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead and communicate effectively with a diverse team.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily tasks and prepare detailed work instructions for greenhouse staff.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe greenhouse facilities through sweeping, weeding, ground cloth repair, and general upkeep.
- Monitor greenhouse equipment and identify maintenance needs involving irrigation systems, fans, boilers, injectors, and other infrastructure.
- Apply fertilizers, fungicides, and insecticides according to label directions and safety protocols.
- Monitor plant health and assist with watering, transplanting, spacing, and general crop care.
- Maintain knowledge of plant inventory, product availability, and greenhouse locations.
- Assist with propagation lab watering and maintenance.
- Help determine crop placement and maximize greenhouse space utilization.
- Support training and supervision of greenhouse assistants.
- Assist with seasonal greenhouse cleanout and sanitation.
- Assist customers in the retail store as needed and help pack online orders on select mornings.
Qualifications
- Previous greenhouse, nursery, horticulture, agriculture, or landscaping experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and greenhouse operations.
- Ability to identify plant health issues and equipment maintenance needs.
- Basic math and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks including moving plants, pots, soil, and nursery materials throughout the workday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
