Client Accounting Services (CAS) Manager Part-Time | Remote or Hybrid | Michigan CPA Firm

Compensation: $35-$50 per hour based on experience
Schedule: Flexible, approximately 20-30 hours per week to start
About the Role
Harvey & Thompson, PLLC is seeking an experienced accounting professional to help manage bookkeeping engagements, onboard new clients, oversee accounting projects, and support year-end accounting and tax preparation.
This is not an entry-level position and is not a bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who can independently manage projects, work directly with business owners, and serve as a resource for our accounting team.
Remote candidates are welcome.
What You'll Do Client Onboarding
- Lead onboarding of new bookkeeping and accounting clients
- Review accounting systems and records
- Design chart of accounts and accounting workflows
- Manage accounting cleanup and catch-up projects
Accounting & Bookkeeping Oversight
- Review bookkeeping work prepared by staff
- Assist with difficult reconciliations and accounting issues
- Review monthly and quarterly financial statements
- Serve as a resource for bookkeeping staff
Year-End Accounting
- Prepare and review year-end workpapers
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Review payroll and sales tax activity
- Prepare accounting files for tax return preparation
Client Service
- Meet with business owners
- Answer accounting questions
- Manage assigned client relationships
- Coordinate project deliverables
Tax Support
- Prepare business and individual tax returns as needed
- Assist with routine tax notices and correspondence
- Support year-end tax preparation
Qualifications Required
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Public accounting experience required
- Strong QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop experience
- Experience preparing financial statements
- Experience with year-end accounting and workpapers
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to independently manage projects and client relationships
Preferred
- CPA, EA, or equivalent experience
- Business tax return preparation experience
- Construction accounting experience
- Manufacturing accounting experience
- Payroll and sales tax experience
- Experience supervising accounting staff
- Familiarity with Thomson Reuters CS Software Suite
