What You’ll Do
- Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed stroke and medical-surgical unit
- Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-heart caths, and stroke (CVA/TIA)
- Administer titratable IV medications including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed (manager approval required for experience)
- Support patient safety through chest tube management, tracheostomies, and lumbar drains (preferred skills)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including hospitalists, therapists, and in-house support
- Follow EMR procedures using Meditech Expanse and operate IV pumps and medication dispensing systems
What You Need
- Required: Valid RN license in Louisiana, BLS, ACLS, NIH certifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience; prior experience with critical medications/vent support preferred
- Skills: Ability to pass EKG competency, expertise in titratable medications, support on various units (Stroke, MedSurg)
- Preferred: Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, lumbar drains
