Heavy Equipment Technician – Great Lakes Equipment (XCMG Dealer)

Job Overview
Great Lakes Equipment — the new heavy equipment division of Ohio Mulch — is hiring Experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians to support our growing XCMG dealership operations in Columbus and Cincinnati.
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a full range of XCMG earthmoving and construction equipment, ensuring machines are safe, reliable, and ready for customer use. Work includes equipment set‑up, troubleshooting, hydraulic and electrical diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and component replacement in a modern shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and compact equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Use OEM and competitor diagnostic software to identify and resolve issues
- Complete work orders and documentation accurately
- Work independently and with senior service mentors as needed
Requirements
- Must own tools required for heavy equipment repair
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, fuel systems, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experience with XCMG, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Doosan, Volvo, or similar brands
- Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Experience
- Welding and fabrication (MIG, arc, oxy‑acetylene, gouging)
- Hydraulic pump, valve, and motor repair
- Experience with OEM diagnostic systems (XCMG software, Cat ET, or similar)
- Experience with Cummins diesel engines, including QuickServe Online, Insite diagnostics, and OEM repair procedures.
- Technical training from accredited schools, dealerships, or manufacturer programs

Schedule
- 10‑hour shift
- Monday–Friday
- Overtime and occasional weekends as needed
Experience
- Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Required)
- Hydraulics: 1 year (Required)
- Heavy equipment mechanic: 3 years (Required)
- Heavy equipment operation: 1 year (Preferred)
