Job Description:
As a Veterinary Technician, you will be responsible for assisting our veterinary team in providing care to our patients. Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Conducting initial assessments of patients and obtaining vital signs
- Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Assisting with surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, intubation, and surgical prep
- Performing diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams
- Providing patient care, including wound management, bandage changes, and post-operative care
- Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient information in our practice management software
- Providing excellent customer service to clients and patients
- Mentoring and training veterinary assistants and other support staff
- Performing other duties as assigned by the veterinarian or practice manager
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in veterinary technology or equivalent
- Current certification as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Must be willing to work weekend days
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends
