Position(s): Maintenance Worker I & II

Location: Lewisville, Texas
Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as required
Compensation (DOQ)
Maintenance Worker I: $21.27 – $26.80/hour
Maintenance Worker II: $23.89 - $30.11/hour
Maintenance Worker I
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations–Maintenance, and working as part of a team, performs entry-level maintenance work supporting the operation and maintenance of the District's water and wastewater treatment plants, facilities, and infrastructure. Assists with equipment installation, repairs, inspections, facility maintenance, and grounds maintenance while learning District procedures and maintenance practices.
Essential Duties
- Assists with maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants throughout the District.
- Assists with installation, rebuilding, retrofitting, and repair of pumps, blowers, mixers, motors, rotating equipment, and water distribution and wastewater collection pipelines.
- Assists with maintenance of remote pump stations, lift stations, and administration buildings.
- Performs inspections of District vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Performs grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, irrigation system maintenance, painting, and landscape upkeep.
- Works safely in outdoor and industrial environments while following all District safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of hand tools and safe work practices.
- Ability to read manuals, work orders, and written instructions.
- Ability to complete work orders and required documentation.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Commitment to all District safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial environments, including confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding work.
Other Requirements:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must be willing and able to begin Class A Texas CDL training after successfully completing the probationary period.
- Must be able to pass the applicable pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and background checks.
Maintenance Worker II
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations–Maintenance and/or the Maintenance Supervisor, performs skilled preventive and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater treatment plants, transmission systems, and District facilities. Operates specialized equipment, performs inspections and minor repairs on District vehicles and equipment, documents work activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and may provide guidance and training to Maintenance Worker I employees.
Essential Duties
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater treatment plants, transmission systems, and District-owned facilities.
- Performs maintenance independently or as part of a team and may lead or mentor Maintenance Worker I employees.
- Operates specialized equipment including crane truck, vacuum/jetter combination truck, dump truck, welding equipment, chop saw, and compaction equipment.
- Utilizes ladders, scaffolding, hand tools, power tools, precision tools, and required safety equipment.
- Documents maintenance activities and work orders using the District's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Conducts inspections and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on District vehicles, mobile equipment, and machinery.
- Assists with installation and repair of chemical piping systems and mechanical process equipment.
- Performs grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, pruning, irrigation system maintenance, and landscape improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in basic plumbing repair and/or minor motor repair.
- Experience operating equipment such as crane trucks, dump trucks, vacuum/jetter combination trucks, chainsaws, chop saws, and compaction equipment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and safe operating procedures.
- Ability to operate specialized maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to read manuals, work orders, blueprints, and written instructions.
- Ability to accurately complete work orders and maintenance documentation using the CMMS.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Ability to provide guidance and training to less experienced employees.
- Commitment to all District safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial environments, including confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding work.
Other Requirements
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required.
- Required to complete training in hazardous chemical handling, personal protective equipment (PPE), confined space entry, and trenching/excavation safety.
- Must begin coursework to obtain a Texas water or wastewater operator license within six (6) months of employment.
- Must successfully pass the District's pre-employment drug screen, physical examination, and background investigation.
