Oil Team Technician
Department: Operations Shifts: A / B / C / D
Reports to: Assistant Technical Manager
Job Summary:
The Oil Team Technician is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of drying, vacuum, and oil processing systems used in transformer manufacturing. This includes ensuring efficient and safe operation of VPDs, Enervac systems, ovens, and vacuum systems, supporting diagnostics, performing Power Factor testing, and carrying out oil filling operations on transformers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor and take corrective actions during each VPD process cycle to ensure proper drying and system integrity.
· Operate and monitor oil processing systems – startup, shutdown, temperature/pressure settings, filter changes, and alarm resets.
· Operate and monitor industrial ovens and vacuum systems (Sesco, Enervac); perform vacuum leak tests and monitor tank vacuum levels.
· Perform oil filling inside transformers per job specifications and safety requirements.
· Conduct Power Factor testing and record results accurately.
· Identify and diagnose equipment and process issues; perform basic troubleshooting and corrective actions.
· Coordinate with Maintenance and Production teams (Tank & Prebake) during preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
· Maintain and update daily logs for oven temperatures, oil test results, exposure times, and Power Factor results.
· Track and report unit exposure times after VPD completion.
· Perform VPD startup activities (sensor installation, cleaning, parameter setup).
· Develop and update technical procedures for Oil Team systems.
· Report and document critical incidents, alarms, and system abnormalities promptly.
Qualifications:
· Technical diploma or equivalent industrial experience.
· Experience with VPD, oil filtration, vacuum, or oven systems preferred.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
· Familiarity with Power Factor testing and transformer oil handling.
· Willing to work in rotating shifts (A/B/C/D) and support off-hour operations as needed.
Work Environment:
· Manufacturing floor and control room setting.
· Exposure to oil systems, vacuum processes, and high temperatures.
· PPE compliance required at all times.
