Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Passer/Caregiver for our 3rd shift. someone who can provide essential support and personalized care to our residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior and healthcare-related caregiving, with experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. This role involves administering medications, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals with diverse health needs. The Med Passer/Caregiver will play a vital role in fostering a respectful, safe, and nurturing environment for all residents.
Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates; document findings accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support residents with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care.
- Follow proper manual handling techniques to ensure safety during transfers and mobility assistance.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, family members, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient status and care plans.
- Respond promptly to emergencies by providing first aid or basic life support (BLS) as needed; ensure readiness for CPR when certified.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, tube feeding, medication administration, and wound care under supervision.
- Uphold confidentiality standards while managing sensitive medical information within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and geriatric patient care best practices.
- Certification in CPR and basic life support (BLS); additional certifications such as first aid are preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic or Cerner), medical documentation standards, and HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting residents; strong manual handling skills required.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is advantageous.
- Understanding of state healthcare regulations and compliance requirements for medication administration and patient safety.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to senior populations.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism and respect for residents’ dignity.
