Position Summary
The Non-Student Short-Term Casual will learn to execute standard processing pipelines to perform morphometric and volumetric analyses on serial MR images, tracking structural brain changes over time. Additionally, the Non-Student Short-Term Casual will review existing scientific literature on cerebral palsy pathophysiology, neurodegeneration, and aging to support active study hypotheses, contribute to research documentation, and assist with scientific presentations. This role is structurally geared toward providing experiential learning to support a student by providing deep, specialized exposure to clinical neuroscience, data management, and neuroimaging modalities.
Responsibilities
Neuroimaging Analysis & Pipeline Execution
- Perform morphometric and volumetric analyses on serial MR images using standard processing pipelines to track and measure structural changes in the brain and spinal cord over time.
- Execute neuroimaging data acquisition protocols and practice advanced segmentation, measurement, and interpretation of longitudinal imaging datasets.
- Organize and maintain blinded longitudinal brain MRI datasets, ensuring absolute accuracy and structural integrity of the lab's imaging database.
Clinical Research Methodology & Data Management
- Manage, structure, and filter large clinical and neuroimaging datasets to support the active workflow of a single-center clinical study.
- Apply clinical research standards, developing a practical understanding of study designs, IRB protocols, and data collection compliance.
- Conduct longitudinal biostatistical analyses and interpret findings to help validate active research inquiries.
Scientific Literature & Documentation
- Conduct targeted literature reviews on cerebral palsy pathophysiology, neurodegeneration, and aging to substantiate study hypotheses.
- Contribute to research documentation, draft administrative and technical lab notes, and assist in compiling scientific data for presentations.
- Deliver a final summative presentation at the conclusion of the internship showcasing the analyzed data, methodology, and personal learning growth.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or an associate degree with 2 years of work experience.
