ELA TEACHER: FULL-TIME, 6TH GRADE
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Hours: 7:00-3:00 (scheduled school days)
Work Year: 10 months for the regular school year

- Ohio State Licensure 7-12 English Language Arts or K-12 Reading Endorsement

Job Summary:
To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an Intermediate school environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
General Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials in alignment with the lead teacher that supports learning.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the VCS Code of Conduct.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
