CDL drivers service all recycle centers while driving a tri-axle roll off tractor. Roll off drivers logistically make sure all sites keep capacity available for residents to consistently dispose of waste. This must be accomplished in an environmentally feasible manner.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent plus a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid SC Class B CDL with trailer endorsement. Must have and maintain a good driving record. Must be dependable and prompt. 1 year verifiable cdl driving experience.
Reports to: Solid Waste Director
Responsibilities: It will be the responsibility of the employee to support the County to:
- Provide quality service to the residents of Kershaw County. Present a positive image to the community
- Maintain positive and productive work relationships with all personnel.
- Conform with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Greet and assist the public utilizing the recycle centers for the disposal of household garbage and recyclables:
Essential duties:
- Operate roll off container trucks to safely transport various materials.
- Follow daily route plan as assigned by lead driver
- Communicate to lead driver/ scalemaster any changes in schedule determined by site volumes
- Daily pre trip and post trip inspection of equipment
- Tarping loads to prevent litter and damage to other vehicles.
- Daily communication with shop mechanics for preventative maintenance of equipment
- Following all traffic laws for heavy equipment in the city of Camden and Kershaw County.
- As needed, assist other County Departments such as Public Works, Utilities (Sewer), Recreation, Building Maintenance, Administration, etc.
- Perform all other related duties, as assigned.
Required Physical Skills:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to use mechanical tools and equipment in completion of daily tasks.
