Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation using hand tools and mechanical knowledge.
- Operate powder coating equipment, including spray booths, coating guns, and airless paint sprayers, ensuring even application of coatings.
- Interpret production documents and specifications to accurately apply coatings according to project requirements.
- Handle materials safely with proper PPE adherence, including respirators and respiratory protection, following all safety protocols.
- Maintain equipment such as spray guns, power tools, and machining tools in optimal condition through routine cleaning and troubleshooting.
- Conduct visual color comparisons and quality inspections to ensure coatings meet aesthetic and durability standards.
- Document production activities accurately, including logging materials handling, coating processes, and inspection results.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience operating hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment.
- Familiarity with industrial painting techniques such as conventional spraying, airless paint spraying, and powder coating application methods.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing documents and technical specifications clearly.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to PPE use, respiratory protection, and handling hazardous materials.
- Experience with visual color comparison techniques to ensure coating consistency.
- Basic math skills for measuring coating thickness and calculating material usage.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments for quality control purposes.
- Understanding of construction painting surface preparation procedures and auto body repair basics is a plus.
