Senior Tax Manager - Real Estate & Pass-Throughs
Remote (Nationwide / Major Hub: Encino, California)
Compensation: $190,000 - $220,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus
Are you an ambitious tax professional ready to step into a high-impact leadership role without being chained to a traditional office? We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to drive tax compliance, strategic consulting, and client advisory services for a dynamic, growing portfolio of businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
This remote position (with primary major hubs located in or around Encino) allows you the flexibility of working from home while managing sophisticated engagements for partnerships, S-corporations, C-corporations, trusts, and real estate investors. In this leadership capacity, you will combine deep technical expertise with people management, serving as a trusted primary advisor while mentoring our rising tax professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Oversight: Direct end-to-end tax compliance for complex partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps, trusts, and high-net-worth individual returns, guaranteeing accuracy and timely federal and multi-state filings.
Technical Tax Execution: Lead intricate pass-through engagements focusing on basis adjustments, allocations, target allocation issues, and specialized elections including Section 754 and 704(b).
Advanced Planning & Strategy: Deliver proactive guidance on Section 163(j) interest limitations, 199A pass-through deductions, PTET (pass-through entity tax) elections, and 1031 like-kind exchanges.
Multi-State & Real Estate Focus: Manage sophisticated state apportionment, nexus analysis, and multi-state filing strategies tailored specifically to real estate investors and multi-state enterprises.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise, review, and develop a talented roster of tax staff. Provide continuous technical coaching, assign workloads, and champion internal process improvements.
Client Advisory & Business Development: Act as the main point of contact for complex tax technical matters, represent clients before taxing authorities, and contribute directly to proposal development and firm growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience with heavy emphasis on partnerships and complex pass-through structures.
Demonstrated mastery of Section 163(j), 199A, 754 adjustments, PTET mechanics, and 704(b) allocations.
Strong background in real estate taxation and multi-state nexus/apportionment.
Proficiency with industry-standard tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, UltraTax, Bloomberg Tax).
Master of Science in Taxation (MST) or LL.M. considered a strong plus.
