County Line Scrapyard is a small recycling business in Knoxville, TN. We are a customer-focused, fast-paced scrapyard that has fun in the process. Our goal is to Provide a transparent & honest recycling service to our customers.
We are seeking a laborer to join our team. This position will consist of various jobs such as....
- unloading customer loads
-separating various materials
-packaging of materials for shipping
We have a great team in place now, and seek someone who is a self starter and stays busy to join us. Knowledge of scrap material is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train anyone with the motivation to learn.
This job requires someone who can talk to all types of people with a friendly face. As a Scrapyard/ metal recycling facility we do receive all types of customers. We strive to be honest and follow the rules set by the state, which runs off most of the customers we would rather not have. We deal with a lot of great customers consistent with farmers, contractors, electricians, plumbers, etc.... However, there definitely are some characters so it's important that you can interact and be friendly to everyone, providing consistent service no matter who you are serving.
Responsibilities:
- Unloading customer's loads.
- Separating/Boxing material
- Directing traffic flow/guiding customers to correct areas
- Interacting with customers, being friendly.
- Maintaining a clean and organized dumping area for customers
- Running errands. Picking up lunch, supplies, etc.
- Being eager to help team members if needed
Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy items (40-75lbs) safely. For heavier items we use forklifts, etc.
- Interacting with customers and being friendly
- Ability to pass random drug tests. We operate a drug free work place
- Motivation to stay busy at all time with or without supervision.
- Following instructions by paying attention to details.
- Conduct yourself with safety of yourself and others as the highest priority throughout the day.
Other Notables:
- Experience preferred but not required
- Previous job references will need to be supplied, and may be checked.
- This job could easily lead into other opportunities, possibly operating equipment like forklift, Skidsteer, etc. Running sawzaw and Grinders to clean material. Operating cutting torches on long steel... etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Metal Recycling/Sorting: 1 year (Preferred)
- Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
