Position Overview
The Customer Service & Field Service Technician has two key areas of responsibility. The primary focus is providing exceptional customer service and technical support, including orders, product questions, troubleshooting, and service needs. The secondary focus is onsite service and installation at customer properties.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and problem solver who can de-escalate difficult situations, take ownership of customer concerns, learn technical products quickly, and represent Underwater Fish Light professionally in both the office and the field.
Key Responsibilities: Customer Service & Technical Support
- Provide exceptional, friendly, and professional customer service by phone, email, and in person.
- Assist customers with product questions, selection, orders, installation, troubleshooting, warranties, and service needs.
- Listen carefully, ask effective diagnostic questions, troubleshoot issues, and guide customers toward appropriate solutions.
- Use active listening, empathy, and de-escalation skills when working with frustrated or difficult customers.
- Take ownership of customer issues and follow through to resolution.
- Explain technical information clearly to customers with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Support order entry, customer follow-up, documentation, and accurate customer, product, and inventory records.
- Maintain working knowledge of company products, systems, accessories, installation requirements, and common troubleshooting issues.
Onsite Service & Installation
- Service, install, repair, and troubleshoot company products at residential, dock, waterfront, and other customer locations.
- Work outdoors for multiple hours at a time and safely navigate uneven, rough, rocky, or sandy terrain.
- Safely use hand tools and follow installation procedures, technical instructions, and company safety requirements.
- Lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Communicate professionally with customers, explain work being performed, and treat customer property with care and respect.
- Complete required service documentation and communicate additional service or equipment needs appropriately.
- Safely operate and maintain a company-provided work vehicle and assigned equipment.

Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid, clean driver's license required. A company work vehicle is provided for business use.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and handle difficult customer interactions professionally.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software, CRM, inventory, and order-management systems.
- Ability to learn product information, follow technical procedures, and work independently.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds across uneven, rough, or rocky terrain and remain physically active for most of the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to and from the company workplace.
- Successful completion of required background and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in customer service, technical support, field service, installation, maintenance, electrical or low-voltage systems, marine/waterfront environments, dock construction or maintenance, lighting, mechanical repair, residential service, or related fields. Experience with CRM, inventory, or order-management systems is also a plus.
Schedule & Compensation
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; up to 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities when applicable.
- Occasional weekend work may be required for trade shows or special events.
- Increased availability is expected during peak season, generally September through February.
- Starting pay: $19-$21 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Opportunities for increased responsibility, advancement, and pay as skills and performance develop.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
