CHURCH MUSICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Musician (Keyboardist/Organist)
General Description and Purpose: To provide musical accompaniment on the organ/keyboard to support the overall worship ministries of the church. For the church to do ministry in an atmosphere conducive to a move of God, music is essential. We desire a music ministry that is spiritually grounded, dynamic, and life changing. Hence, the Musician (Keyboardist/Organist) will be a part of a team tasked with creating an environment that presents an appreciation for the role of traditional and contemporary music in Christian worship.
Accountability: Music Coordinator
Core Responsibilities
- Play keyboard/organ for all regular Sunday services and special worship services (Christmas, Easter), weddings, and funerals.
- Attend regular scheduled choir and praise team rehearsals.
- Attend music department staff meetings (when appropriate or as needed).
- Will be available for funerals upon request or assist in seeking a replacement when not provided by the deceased family. (May be asked by the family at the family’s expense)
- Provide instrumental support for soloists, ensembles, and congregational singing.
· Foster a supportive environment, promoting musical growth and spiritual participation.
Required to stay until worship services are concluded
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in piano, organ, or other instruments.
- Ability to work with diverse musical styles (traditional, contemporary, gospel).
- Strong conducting, arranging, and musical leadership skills.
- Deep alignment with the church's mission and a passion for exalting God.
· Demonstrate humility, a heart for service, and sensitivity to the spiritual atmosphere, contributing to the overall worship experience.
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and ability to work well with others.
- Punctual, dependable, and committed to schedules
Administrative Duties
- Arrange for instrument maintenance and care.
- Maintain music libraries.
- Communicate with the music coordinator, musicians, and choir members.
· Be responsible for finding a substitute when absent, especially during key times and inform the Music Coordinator of absence beforehand.
Pay: $400.00 per week
