Job Summary
Independence First UMC is seeking a talented Music Director to lead our music program, inspire musicians, and enhance the overall musical experience for our organization. The Music Director will be responsible for overseeing all musical aspects, from selecting repertoire to conducting performances.
Duties
- Lead and direct Sunday Worship and choir rehearsals, and concerts
- Select appropriate music pieces for various events and performances
- Provide guidance and mentorship to musicians to enhance their skills
- Collaborate with the pastor and staff to ensure a cohesive teamwork
- Communicate effectively with musicians, staff, and church members
Experience
- Proven experience as a Music Director or similar role
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate musicians
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to educate and mentor musicians effectively
- Knowledge of a wide range of musical genres and styles
- This position involves directing the choir, planning worship music, and collaborating with the pastor to enhance the worship experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct the church choir and other musical ensembles. • Plan and coordinate music for weekly worship services and special events. • Collaborate with the pastoral and worship teams to select appropriate hymns, anthems, and other music that aligns with sermon themesand seasonal worship services. • Organize and conduct weekly rehearsals for choir members and soloists • Recruit and develop musicians within the congregation. • Attend Worship Committee meetings as scheduled (approximately every other month)
Qualifications: • A strong background in music with experience in choral direction. • Familiarity with a variety of musical styles, including traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music. • Ability to work collaboratively with the pastor, musicians, and congregants. • A heart for worship and a commitment to the mission of the church. • Christian who believes in the Trinity.
Starting Salary: $850 / month
