Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress Tailor (sastre) to join our fashion retail team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for garment construction and a keen eye for quality craftsmanship. This role involves customizing and altering clothing to meet customer specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and high standards of workmanship. Duties
- Measure clients accurately to determine tailoring needs and ensure proper fit.
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to alter, repair, or construct garments according to specifications.
- Perform garment construction tasks, including cutting fabric, sewing seams, and finishing edges with precision.
- Assist customers by providing expert advice on alterations and fabric choices, ensuring satisfaction with final products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sewing area and tools.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage multiple projects efficiently, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and complexity.
Skills
- Proven experience in garment construction, sewing, and using sewing machines effectively.
- Strong understanding of fashion retail trends and customer preferences.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Knowledge of basic math for measurements, pattern adjustments, and fabric calculations.
- Ability to interpret design sketches or instructions accurately.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
