Summary:
The Laundry Washperson will operate and monitor washing and drying machinery by loading articles of linen such as sheets, terry and table cloths into industrial washers at the proper established weights. Stage and place washed articles in appropriate storage area for processing.
Responsibilities:
- Loads articles into washer at the proper established weights.
- Program and set the washer with the proper formula.
- All laundry equipment must be constantly monitored.
- Wash and dry articles according to identification numbers or type.
- Stage and places wash and dried articles in appropriate storage area for processing.
- Wash aisles and related areas are to remain free of debris and clutter.
- Follow appropriate wash schedule ensuring a constant linen flow to all areas.
- Use proper lifting and pulling technique when loading and unloading washers and dryers.
- Operate tunnel and maintain production goals of 25-30 transfers per hour equaling 3,000 pounds per hour. Tunnel operators must complete specific training to operate the equipment.
- Participates in pre shift stretching warmups.
- Must be able to push and/or pull laundry bins weighing 250 lbs. to 500 lbs. when loaded with linen.
- Uphold the company's drug-free, tobacco-free, and nicotine-free policies within the workplace
- All other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of previous laundry experience preferred.
- Must be able to push and/or pull laundry bins weighing 250 lbs. to 500 lbs. when loaded with linen.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a hot environment.
- Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
