We are seeking a high-impact Director of Business Development – Investments to drive asset growth across our top-tier advisor base. This role operates similarly to a senior external wholesaler, partnering directly with advisors to identify opportunities, capture held-away assets, and accelerate RIA and annuity growth.
Overview
You’ll work with a defined group of established advisors and have a direct line of influence on firm-wide asset growth—without managing end clients directly. This is a unique opportunity to combine the relationship depth of an internal role with the influence, autonomy, and earning potential of an external producer.
What You’ll Drive
- $300M in new RIA deposits
- $120M in new annuity deposits
- Increased wealth management penetration across top-tier advisors
- Stronger advisor engagement and utilization of CP resources
What You’ll Do
Growth & Asset Capture (Primary Focus)
- Lead book reviews to uncover and prioritize asset capture opportunities
- Drive held-away asset conversations and client review strategies
- Partner with advisors to move opportunities through to implementation
- Position RIA and annuity strategies within broader planning discussions
Advisor Enablement
- Coach advisors on client engagement and closing strategies
- Deliver targeted training, boot camps, and growth initiatives
· Strategic & Operational Support
- Manage vendor relationships and budget alignment
- Build and maintain monthly performance scorecards
- Partner with the Development team to support advisor growth initiatives

Qualifications
- A minimum of 5–10+ years in wealth management, wholesaling, or advisor-facing business development
- Proven success driving asset growth through advisors or clients
- Strong understanding of RIA, annuities, and financial planning
- Series 65 or 66 (or ability to obtain)
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Based in Charlotte
Travel
- Charlotte-based role with some travel expected (<10%)
- Primarily same-day regional travel within CP’s regional footprint, which includes offices across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee
- Minimal overnight travel
How Success is Measured
- Growth in RIA and annuity assets
- Advisor engagement and adoption of planning tools
- Conversion of opportunities into implemented business
- Overall growth within assigned advisor group
Compensation
- Base: competitive base
- Incentives: Performance-based, tied to asset growth
- Total Comp: the competitive base and incentive structure offers greater income stability than traditional wholesaler roles, while still providing meaningful performance-based upside. Base and total comp ranges are available upon request

Pay: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
