About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Lead AV Technician to join our team in the Houston area. This position is responsible for leading AV installation projects from start to finish while working directly with customers, project managers, and field technicians.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience leading or running AV jobs, understands commercial AV installation, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can effectively lead a small field team.
Experience with security systems, access control, surveillance cameras, or related low-voltage systems is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day AV installation activities on assigned projects
- Serve as the lead technician and primary field contact during installations
- Read and interpret AV drawings, schematics, floor plans, and project documentation
- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission commercial AV systems
- Install and configure displays, projectors, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, microphones, control systems, video conferencing equipment, and related AV equipment
- Coordinate with project managers, customers, general contractors, and other trades
- Direct and assist other technicians to ensure projects stay on schedule
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Identify and communicate project issues, material needs, and scope changes
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting
- Assist with system commissioning and customer training when required
- Complete required project documentation and closeout paperwork
- Travel to customer locations throughout the Houston area and occasionally other areas as needed
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Follow all company safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading or running commercial AV installation projects
- Strong understanding of commercial AV systems and installation practices
- Ability to read and understand AV drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Experience terminating and testing AV cabling
- Ability to troubleshoot AV equipment and system issues
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Professional appearance and customer-service mindset
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and move AV equipment and work from ladders/lifts when required
- Willingness to travel locally and occasionally outside the Houston area
