Travel Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology (EP) Lab

Schedule: Day shift with rotating late-night coverage
Weekend/Call Requirement: Minimum 1–2 late nights per week
Position Overview
Henrico Doctors Hospital Forest is seeking an experienced Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology (EP) Lab professional to join its EP Lab team. This position supports a high-acuity procedural environment performing advanced electrophysiology procedures, cardiac ablations, left atrial appendage occlusion procedures, and cardiac device implants.
The ideal candidate is clinically strong, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary procedural team. Candidates should be willing to adjust their setup and workflow to accommodate physician and lab needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical support during cardiac electrophysiology procedures.
- Perform circulating, scrubbing, and/or monitoring responsibilities based on experience and lab needs.
- Assist with complex EP procedures and maintain a safe, efficient procedural environment.
- Prepare patients, equipment, and procedure rooms for scheduled cases.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, RNs, radiologic technologists, RCIS professionals, and other members of the EP team.
- Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Maintain sterile technique and follow established procedural and safety protocols.
- Assist with post-procedure care and appropriate patient handoff.
- Adapt to physician-specific preferences and changing procedural requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation using the facility's electronic medical record system.
Unit Information
- Setting: Cardiac Electrophysiology Lab
- Minimum Daily Staffing: 6 staff members in the EP Lab area
- Staffing Model: Mix of RNs and Radiologic Technologists/RCIS
- Patient Ratio: 3-person procedural team per patient
- Equipment: Philips and GE procedure tables
- Documentation System: GE BT22
- EMR: Meditech Expanse
Required Experience
Candidates must have experience with:
- Circulating, scrubbing, and/or monitoring in a procedural setting
- Electrophysiology ablation procedures, including:
- Atrial fibrillation (Afib)
- Atrial flutter (Aflutter)
- Ventricular tachycardia (VT)
- Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
- Premature ventricular contractions (PVC)
- Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) procedures, including:
- Watchman
- Amulet
- Cardiac device implants, including:
- Permanent pacemakers (PPM)
- Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD)
- Biventricular pacemakers/ICDs (Bi-V PPM/ICD)
Preferred Experience
Candidates with the following experience will be strongly preferred:
- Loop recorder implantation and explantation
- Leadless pacemaker (PPM) procedures
- Lead extraction procedures
Typical Procedures
The EP Lab routinely performs:
- Cardiac ablations
- Atrial fibrillation and other EP ablations
- LAAO procedures
- Watchman and Amulet procedures
- Permanent pacemaker implants
- ICD implants
- Biventricular PPM/ICD implants
- Other advanced electrophysiology and cardiac device procedures

Required Certifications
Pay: $2,548.00 - $2,668.00 per week
