MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants may be any licensed vocational nurse or registered nurse with no less than two years of nursing experience, of which no less than one year is in providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.
Two (2) years of full-time experience as a licensed nurse, at least one (1) year of which must be in the provision of direct patient care in a nursing facility. Within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program, the licensed nurse shall obtain a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education courses in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs in nursing. These must be courses approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or courses administered by an accredited educational institution. A transcript of successfully completed course(s) shall be sent to the CDPH and shall be used as a basis for approval of the qualifications of the instructor.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS
- Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
- Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
- Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
- Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
- Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.
