Hiring a press brake operator to lead, coach, and support a low-volume manufacturing work cell. This working lead will partner with the production manager to manage workflow, adjust to production demands, help execute the production schedule, and run production alongside other operators. The role includes repetitive tasks, troubleshooting, and mechanical problem solving in a high-mix environment with complicated jobs.
This role supervises daily workflow, work assignments, and labor priorities, but it does not include administrative supervision. Disciplinary action and other human resource responsibilities will remain with the production manager.
Typical workflow activities include:
- reviewing the requirements for the week with the Production Manager
- assigning and monitoring staff priorities on various machines
- changing over tooling on machines
- overseeing staff productivity
- troubleshooting set-up variations and advising on adjustments
- running a machine when not actively supervising in other capacities
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct servo-press brake machine set-ups using provided set-up sheets and past experience in forming operations
- Advise, train, and assist other operators in set-ups and forming techniques
- Optimize work centers, tooling, and personnel for efficiency to meet part specifications and production run rates
- Work with both hands to improve efficiency during tasks such as loading, unloading, and pick-and-place work
- Monitor part conformance through predetermined quality checks and charting
- Read and understand blueprints
- Measure print dimensions using various measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, vision systems, etc.
- Create work instructions or update key details about part.
- Have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Uphold the highest standards in quality and character.
- Understand procedures and processes contributing AS9100D and ISO9001 certifications.
- Understand the quality inspection processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years of metal forming or relevant experience.
- Familiar with metal working principles, practices, and processes.
- Strong attention to detail
- Good fine-motor skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to train, coach, and correct
- Ability to execute repetitive tasks safely for extended period
- Due to ITAR requirements, employees must be U.S. citizens or current Green Card holders.
