Duties
- Operate loaders to load and unload materials such as gravel, dirt, asphalt, and other construction supplies with precision and safety.
- Assist with the operation of excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks as needed.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Coordinate with team members to move materials efficiently around the site while adhering to safety protocols.
- Support construction activities by preparing sites for paving, grading, or other specialized tasks using appropriate machinery.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance needs to ensure operational readiness.
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment for everyone on site.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks.
- Proven experience operating construction machinery in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety.
- Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety standards.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance checks on heavy equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- 2+ years of experience operating front-end loaders in construction preferred
- Familiarity with underground utility and sitework operations a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to sit for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
