Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is an essential member of the clinical team in our ENT Medical Practice, responsible for supporting physicians and other healthcare professionals in the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical and administrative duties, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience in a fast-paced, multi-office environment. Experience is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and updating patient records.
- Assist providers during exams and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and administer medications or immunizations as directed by providers.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and exam rooms according to infection control protocols.
- Provide patient education on ENT procedures, medications, and post-visit care instructions.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule patient appointments, verify insurance information, and facilitate referrals to specialists or diagnostic services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages between patients and providers.
- Manage inventory of medical and office supplies, restocking as necessary.
Patient Communication & Service
- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Address patient concerns and questions with empathy and professionalism.
- Coordinate with other clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Follow all practice policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is required.
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinical setting is required, preferably in ENT or a related specialty, is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and infection control practices.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and computer use.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist patients as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
