PREP COOK — Full Time Market on Main | Columbia, SC
Market on Main is a scratch kitchen in Columbia, SC serving elevated, ingredient-driven food across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We're looking for a focused, dependable prep cook who takes pride in doing the foundational work that makes great service possible. Responsibilities Execute all daily prep lists accurately and on time before service. Butcher proteins, break down vegetables, and portion ingredients to spec. Prepare stocks, sauces, marinades, dressings, and components per recipe. Label, date, and store all product correctly following FIFO. Maintain a clean, organized prep kitchen throughout the shift. Assist with receiving and put away deliveries. Communicate low pars and product quality issues to the chef on duty. Support line cooks during service as needed. Assist with end-of-day breakdown and deep cleaning tasks.
Qualifications 6+ months of professional kitchen experience preferred. Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment. Ability to follow recipes and written prep lists precisely. Strong attention to detail and a clean, organized work style. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Dependable — consistent attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable. Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days.
