Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and inspect overhead cranes and hoists to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on cranes and related equipment to minimize downtime.

Service overhead crane systems by performing quality installations, OSHA/ANSI equivalent inspections, and warranty work.

Respond promptly to repair calls and breakdowns, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions.

Evaluate equipment condition and make clear recommendations regarding required repairs and upgrades for customers.

Support customers by effectively interfacing with both customer contacts and the office team while repairing equipment.

Maintain strong rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, and suggesting improved methods and techniques.

Recommend system improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and performance of crane systems.

Document all service and installation activities by accurately completing forms, reports, and inspection checklists.

Build and maintain customer confidence by providing timely responses, communicating issues clearly, and completing jobs within agreed timeframes.

Maintain a professional presentation at all times, including punctuality, appearance, communication, and organization on job sites and in company vehicles.

Perform fabrication and welding of structures as needed to support crane installation, repair, and modification work.

Work safely at heights, including climbing up to cranes located within manufacturing and production facilities.

Participate in an on-call rotation to support customers during evenings and weekends as required.
Essential Skills
-
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting overhead cranes and hoists, including at least 6+ months of related experience for entry-level roles.

Strong electrical skills, including troubleshooting and performing electrical maintenance on crane systems.

Mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.

Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.

Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and safe work practices.

Ability to perform crane inspections in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines.

Fabrication and welding skills sufficient to repair and modify structural components as needed.

Strong customer service and people skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers on-site.

Comfort working at heights and climbing to access overhead cranes.

Ability to document work clearly and accurately in forms, reports, and inspection checklists.

Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including weekends, and to work extended hours when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience working in manufacturing or production-based environments.

Familiarity with OSHA and ANSI requirements related to overhead cranes and hoists.

Experience performing OSHA/ANSI equivalent inspections on crane systems.

Experience in industrial maintenance, field service, or similar technical roles.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role serving customers throughout the Greater Houston area, traveling to various manufacturing warehouses and industrial sites to service and repair overhead cranes. Technicians work in environments that are approximately 50% indoors and 50% outdoors, with exposure to active production areas and typical industrial conditions. The standard schedule is first shift, typically starting at 7:00 a.m., with most weeks ranging from 40 to 50 hours. When business needs arise, you may work up to 12-hour days. Technicians participate in a rotating on-call schedule for weekend coverage, with the on-call calendar communicated approximately six weeks in advance. Overnight travel may occasionally be required, though this is rare. You will work as part of a team of about ten Crane Technicians, using company-provided vehicles, tools support, and communication devices while adhering to appropriate industrial attire and safety gear requirements, including steel-toe footwear.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $91520.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
