Summary
The Server is responsible for ensuring all members are provided with prompt and friendly service per CRYC standards. The server plays a key role in each member’s experience, directly and indirectly. A CRYC server is a natural born leader who can command their section during peak volume times, while staying attentive during slower times. They know how to help their coworkers while also having the ability to know when to ask for help. The server must have superior knowledge about the Club’s food and beverage offerings and be able to describe and explain menu items as needed or upon Member inquiry, including specific questions regarding dietary restrictions and allergies. The server goes above and beyond to exceed Member expectations by personalizing each interaction in accordance with CRYC standards and culture.
Essential Functions
- Provide food and beverage service to club members and guests.
- Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
- Offer the appropriate type of seat for children to ensure they are safe and secure.
- Greet and acknowledge members and guests and thank members and guests; inviting them to return.
- Build rapport with all members with the ability to greet them by name and remember their special preferences.
- Set up side station and performs assigned side (prep) work.
- Distribute food and wine menus, answers questions.
- Maintain knowledge of menu, wines and spirits available to members.
- Fill glasses with ice water and suggest menu items.
- Serve food and drinks in an efficient, friendly and courteous manner; offers suggestions on daily specials and wine selections.
- Place orders with kitchen; inform cooks about any special cooking instructions.
- Time the service of each course for an efficient dining experience.
- Assemble food on tray; procure items from each station as necessary.
- Serve meals accurately by placing dishes by courses in front of each person as ordered.
- Check back to ensure member and guest satisfaction; replenish water and butter as necessary.
- Remove soiled dishes and deliver them to the designated staging area to be cleaned.
- Clear tables after each course and reset them with appropriate silverware.
- Present dessert menus, suggest and serve dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
- Verify accuracy of prices, state and federal taxes, tips and other charges on all checks.
- Present the bill ensuring that the correct account numbers and names were given for billing.
- Handle all cash and credit card charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Keep dining room and bus station areas clean.
- Clears, cleans and resets tables that have been vacated.
- Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Perform clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager.
- Ensure opening, closing and sidework duties are completed as assigned by manager.
- Attend pre-meal meetings.
- Turn in signed tip declaration form weekly.
- Follow all local and state laws and CRYC policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and inform manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
- Perform all other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Two years of comparable wait service experience preferred.
- Expertise in Point of Sales systems, including reporting capabilities and basic troubleshooting practices required.
- 21 years of age required.
- Current Food Safety and Alcohol Beverage Certifications required.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with an accommodating disposition required.
- Strong customer service skills with ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner required.
- Knowledge of wine and spirits required.
- Valid CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications required.
- Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Members, their children, Club staff and Management required.
- Ability to create and foster a positive teamwork environment required.
- Excellent verbal, written and social communication and listening skills required.
- Strong customer service skills with a customer service mindset required.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations required.
- Ability to work a varying schedule based on the Clubs’ needs required. This schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
