Position Summary
NEB is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team while remaining actively engaged in product development. This position combines technical leadership, people management, project oversight, and customer interaction.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for developing engineers, ensuring successful project execution, maintaining engineering quality, and supporting the continued growth of the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring engineers, solving difficult technical problems, and helping customers develop life-changing medical technologies.
Primary Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical, electrical, software, quality, and manufacturing engineers
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations
- Coach engineers in technical and professional development
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused engineering culture
Project Leadership
- Provide technical oversight on multiple concurrent development programs
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Work closely with Program Managers to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget
- Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies
- Review engineering work products for technical accuracy and completeness
Technical Responsibilities
Remain technically engaged by supporting projects involving:
- Medical device design
- Design controls
- Risk management
- Design verification and validation
- Manufacturing transfer
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
- Human factors considerations
- Supplier development
- Prototype evaluation
Quality & Regulatory
Support and reinforce NEB's Quality Management System by:
- Following ISO 13485 and FDA Quality Management System Regulation (QMSR) requirements
- Participating in design reviews
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Reviewing engineering documentation
- Promoting continuous improvement initiatives
Customer Engagement
- Serve as a technical advisor for customers
- Participate in proposal development and technical discussions
- Present engineering progress during customer meetings
- Help build long-term customer relationships
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of engineering experience
- 2+ years of technical leadership or engineering management experience
- Experience developing regulated medical devices
- Strong understanding of design controls and product development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred
- Experience working within ISO 13485
- Experience with FDA medical device regulations
- SolidWorks experience
- Experience with design verification and validation
- Manufacturing transfer experience
- PMP certification (preferred but not required)
- Master's degree (preferred)

Pay: $85,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
