Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using EMR/EHR systems.
- Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle medical billing processes including collection of payments and copayments
- Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Manage patient records by filing, updating electronic health records (EHR), and ensuring proper documentation review
- Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to support billing accuracy
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, coordinating patient intake, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers
Qualifications
- Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance procedures, and health information management systems.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards with professionalism and discretion
- Excellent customer service skills complemented by phone etiquette, multi-line phone system operation, and effective communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel for documentation and scheduling purpose
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and documentation review
- Office experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not mandatory
