Friendship Centers of Emmet County is a non-profit organization designated as the Council on Aging for Emmet County. We provide need-based, simple assistive care services to seniors in Emmet County, allowing older adults to remain living in their own home.

JOB SUMMARY
The RSVP Director oversees the Remarkable Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at the Friendship Centers of Emmet County (FCEC) under the supervision of the Community Engagement Director. This position provides leadership for program operations, staff supervision, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and compliance with applicable program requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate RSVP team members; monitor performance and coordinate work schedules.
- Assist in the development and administration of the RSVP budget and ensure responsible stewardship of program funds.
- Maintain accurate program records and prepare required reports, including volunteer statistics, service hours, timesheets, appropriate documentation, and other program data.
- Develop, implement, and maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and training programs, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements.
- Recruit, screen, orient, and retain volunteers through ongoing outreach and engagement efforts.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies, nonprofit organizations, and volunteer stations to expand meaningful volunteer opportunities.
- Oversee daily program operations and provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff, volunteers, and volunteer stations. Address and resolve concerns or conflicts as they arise.
- Promote RSVP through community outreach, presentations, marketing, and social media to increase program awareness and volunteer participation.
- Plan and coordinate volunteer recognition, appreciation, and special events.
- Participate in organizational planning and collaborate with agency leadership to strengthen volunteer engagement and community partnerships.
- Maintain the confidentiality of agency, volunteer, client, and organizational information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in business, nonprofit management, human services, public administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent education and progressively responsible management experience may be considered. Prior supervisory experience is required.
OTHER ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets and analyze program data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and experience using databases and social media platforms.
- Commitment to serving older adults and supporting volunteerism.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office-based at the Friendship Centers of Emmet County with regular travel throughout Emmet County to volunteer sites, community organizations, and events. Must be able to communicate effectively and occasionally lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, be insurable under the agency's automobile insurance policy, have reliable transportation, and successfully pass a criminal background check.
