Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to our attorneys and clients, ensuring smooth case management and efficient workflow.
Wage is dependent on experience. Other benefits may be available or negotiated.
Position will begin approximately 8/31/2026.
Responsibilities
- Communication with clients and attorneys, either in person, by telephone, or through correspondence.
- Screening potential clients for the attorneys.
- Prepare and draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, correspondence, and reports with accuracy and clarity.
- Manage legal case files using document management systems like Clio; organize and maintain electronic and physical files systematically.
- Review documents for accuracy, consistency, and completeness; perform proofreading and transcription tasks to ensure high-quality submissions.
- Perform transcription as necessary.
- Conduct client interviews and witness interviews as needed to gather relevant information for cases.
- Support attorneys with project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal projects by tracking deadlines and coordinating activities.
- Assist in the review of legal documents.
- Handle administrative duties such as data entry, filing, scheduling appointments, managing phone inquiries with professional etiquette, and supporting overall office organization.
- Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, preparing reports, and coordinating meetings or court appearances when necessary.
Skills
- Knowledge of legal practice areas including family law, mediation and litigation procedures.
- Experience with legal administrative systems like Clio for document management and billing processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, primarily Word and Excel.
- Experience with Adobe, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Limited transcription.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting clear legal documents including pleadings; adept at proofreading to ensure accuracy.
- Familiarity with document review processes for litigation or transactional work; capable of managing large volumes of documents accurately.
- Effective communication skills paired with courteous phone etiquette for interacting with clients, court staff and other attorneys.
- Experience supporting attorneys in court filings or client meetings; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
